Hi, my name is Matt Belec. I graduated with my Masters of Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. I am also a University of Alberta graduate with a BSc in Kinesiology with a major in sports performance. My journey to pursue a career in physiotherapy comes from my own experiences with sports related injuries that led to numerous trips to my physiotherapist. The role my physiotherapist played in facilitating my recovery, as well as my fascination of the resilience of the human body, drew me to this profession and fostered my desire to assist others in their journey towards pain free movement.

My practice is rooted in empathy and fueled by a genuine passion for helping others. I believe in tailoring each treatment plan to suit the individual needs of my patients, recognizing that every injury is unique. Building therapeutic relationships is a cornerstone of my approach, ensuring that you feel supported and empowered throughout your recovery.

I enjoy collaborating with individuals of all ages and abilities, helping them recover from injury, alleviate pain, and enhance their quality of life. Whether you are an athlete striving to return to peak performance or someone simply seeking relief from daily discomfort, I want to help you achieve your goals.

When not in the clinic, I enjoy playing and watching hockey, staying active, attending live music, and spending time with my wife and family.

Hello, my name is Kodie! Growing up I spent a lot of time running around outside and ended up spraining both of my ankles multiple times, and it wasn’t until I dislocated my knee that I ended up being introduced to the world of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Ever since then, I’ve developed a passion for rehab and wanted to play a role in helping people recover and return to their normal lives.

I started off with studying MacEwan’s Physical Therapy Assistant / Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma and graduated in 2018. After having spent a few years working in a physiotherapy clinic, I decided I wanted to have a more hands on approach to rehab and pursued massage therapy. I graduated from MacEwan’s 2200 hour Massage Therapy program and use the knowledge gained from both of my diplomas to provide the best possible treatment for all of my clients.

I use a client-centred approach for my massage therapy treatments. I will take a verbal history to understand a patient’s concerns and to discuss personal goals coming out of a massage, and establish a treatment plan best suited for those goals. Whether a client is seeking a relaxing Swedish Massage with cupping, or a deep tissue massage with trigger point release techniques applied, each session is catered to an individual’s needs.

Outside of the clinic, I like to spend my time exploring cafés around the city, going out to see movies, and taking care of my aquariums. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Hi, I’m Brooke! I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, where I completed my Bachelor of Science. I then moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue my chiropractic education and also earned a Master’s in Sports Medicine from the University of Western States. Growing up, I was involved in various sports, with a particular passion for soccer. My experiences with sports injuries led me to chiropractic care at an early age, fostering a deep appreciation for conservative care through years of treatment.

During my education, I took numerous extracurricular courses, including Motion Palpation Institute adjusting, pregnancy and pediatrics seminars, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Fix Your Own Back, and pin and stretch seminars. My master’s program internship allowed me to work with diverse sports teams and athletes, experience I now bring to my practice. I implement a variety of techniques including diversified chiropractic care, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, and building specific rehab programs. I enjoy creating personalized treatment plans for all my patients, whether they are athletes, children, busy parents, expecting mothers, or anyone seeking more movement and less worries.

In my free time, you can catch me snowboarding, paddle boarding, camping or hiking in the mountains, checking out the newest restaurants, and spending time with family and friends! I am always up for a new adventure!

Hi! My name is Michelle Kobitowich, and I am the Doctor of Acupuncture at Movenetics. When I was growing up and people asked if I was involved in any sports, I always hesitated and said, “I’m not sure if you consider it a sport, but I dance.” As I grew up, I realized that dance was as much of a sport as any. It involved passion, athleticism, teamwork, dedication, and skill. Following my graduation from the competitive dance world, I taught for a couple of years and my love for dance continues to this day.

In 2020, I had the privilege of becoming one of Mike’s patients and I instantly felt like my life was changed. I had been suffering with back pain for years, but since there was never a solid diagnosis from scans, I never felt heard, nor received any relief. With Mike, that was different. After only my second treatment with Mike I was so inspired that I decided to apply for Acupuncture school. My goal instantly became “to make peoplefeel the way Mike made me feel”. That being: heard, supported, understood, and relief.

I was drawn to Acupuncture because of the way it addresses a multitude of concerns. Whether external or internal concerns, Acupuncture can help the body return to a balanced state of health. Some of the areas that acupuncture can treat include pain, inflammation, the common cold or flu, digestion, gynecological, migraines, skin conditions,

During my time completing the Acupuncture Program at MacEwan, I completed over 600 hours of clinical practice, learnt about Traditional Chinese Medicine, and was trained in multiple modalities including but not limited to needling, cupping, and Tuina (Chinese medical massage). My favourite part about being in clinic is meeting and treating patients based on their individual needs. I am so passionate about helping others that no matter how small they’ve been made their concern to feel, I am willing to listen and work to understand what they are experiencing. My treatments address both the root cause and the varying related factors to ensure I can provide long term solutions.

When I am not in the clinic, I am possibly not in the country as I have a strong passion for travel. My other interests include cheering on the Oilers, spending time with my family, and enjoying the outdoors. I look forward to meeting you and hope to have significant impact on your journey towards health and wellness.

Hi, I’m Ashley! I have wanted to be a physiotherapist since participating in a high school internship at the local hospital and witnessing firsthand the positive impact physiotherapists can have on people’s lives. Since then, I have graduated from the University of Alberta with my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (BScKin) and Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT).

I have always been involved in sports, and have been playing in a few adult volleyball leagues around the city. I love hiking and paddleboarding and am also continuously trying to improve my snowboarding skills. I worked as a kinesiologist for two years and that experience heavily influences my treatment style, as I understand the importance of movement for recovery. I like to combine a personalized exercise program with manual therapy and education for a well-rounded treatment approach for all my patients.

My clinical education took me to four cities across Alberta, and my favorite experiences were in orthopedic private practice and in outpatient neurology with stroke and traumatic brain injury patients. Whether you are an athlete, weekend warrior, have a persistent injury, a concussion or a neurological condition, I would be happy to join your treatment team and work with you on getting you back to your goals.

Since graduation I have pursued continuing education in concussion, functional dry needling, vestibular rehab, and sport rehabilitation.

In my free time, you can usually find me taking my dogs on adventures in the mountains, at the plant store, playing spikeball or foosball, or trying new local restaurants and breweries around the city.
